Vito Balorda, a PhD student and a research assistant at the Theoretical Underpinnings of Molecular Biology (ThUMB) project, earned a fellowship from the Wirth Institute at the University of Alberta (Edmonton, Canada). The fellowship is awarded for one Croatian PhD student per generation for the duration of one year and it is awarded in cooperation with the Croatian Ministry of Science and Education. The University of Alberta, where Vito is working as a research assistant, is among the top 150 universities in the world. The main task of the fellowship is to complete the PhD thesis, and to improve the connection between the University of Alberta and the University of Rijeka. Furthermore, the task is to connect the Croatian community of Edmonton with the events organized by the Wirth Institute and the University of Alberta.
